All indications are that the next Speaker of the House, John Boehner, is a staunch conservative. His background would certainly indicate as much. He’s become the hope of many conservatives looking for change in Washington. (more…)

Rebirth
It’s fascinating how quickly a forest recovers after a devastating fire. In a relatively short time sprouts of various species begin to appear and spread throughout the destroyed land. With time they grow more vibrant, resisting any hindrance to their development. While the process takes years, to an occasional observer it appears to happen with great speed. Such is the nature of nature, and such is the nature of democracy. (more…)

It Was Supposed to be Different, but Nothing’s Changed
You don’t need me to remind you that the “Great Tea Party Movement of 2010” missed Maryland completely. Except for Andy Harris’ victory, we were pretty much left out of the action. Thankfully, other states participated and there will be a new freshman class in Congress – a class that can’t help but get the message. It’s too bad that common sense is scarce in Maryland. (more…)

Politics At Its Worst
I’ve been baffled as to why Nancy and Harry are so obsessed with giving Barry legislation the public doesn’t want; then it occurred to me – I’ve been saying it all along. Please Don’t Fight
Last week President Obama gave a relatively short speech in Elyria, Ohio in which he used the words, “I’ll never stop fighting” approximately twenty times. Fighting..fighting..fighting, politicians are always fighting. They claim they’re fighting for us. Hillary must have said that ten thousand times during her race for the presidency. She would stand square on the stage and clinch her fist and shout something about fighting. I found that really scary. I almost felt sorry for Bill, because I imagine at least once during the mid-nineties he must have experienced some of that fighting. I bet she could kick his you-know-what. (more…)

Dumb? Or Not Paying Attention?
Are we undergoing a revolution of mass public involvement or are the tea parties and marches the work of a fringe element? When last I wrote on this subject, I proposed that we should tread carefully and nurture this newly revived voter interest and not assume anything. While recent election results seem to indicate rejection of the status quo, positive proof is not yet evident. Furthermore, are the demonstrators rejecting the Democrats who presently hold power, or (more…)

Shot Heard Around The Country
They’re calling it the “shot heard around the country” in reference to the “shot heard around the world” fired by an unknown soldier that began the battle of Lexington-Concord, signaling the start of the revolutionary war in April 1775. Scott Brown’s victory in Massachusetts could very well be the beginning of another revolution, but only the beginning. (more…)
