Back in 1901 the first Nobel Peace Prize was awarded. The Peace Prize is funded by the will of Alfred Nobel, that states in part, “during the preceding year [...] shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses.”

Virtually every person alive today has endured constant reminders of conflict in the Middle East. There seems to be no end to it. Every book on the history of mankind has a section on wars in that region, going back before the Crusades. Is it finally coming to an end? The president is a courageous, but extremely self-confident man. He’s certainly not afraid to take risks. This is evident when you consider events in the Middle East; particularly as they relate to Iran. Obama is taking the path of dialogue and negotiation, as he promised during the campaign.
